buzz worthy: TWELVE

It is all about want. No one needs anything here. It is about when you wake up in the morning and the snow is already coming down and its bright between the buildings where the sun falls. But already dark where the shadows are. And its all about want. What do you want? Because if you don't want something you got nothing. You are a drift. You're washed away and then buried under the snows and shadows. And when in the spring the snow melts, no one will remember where you were frozen and buried. And you will no longer be anywhere. These were the lines that struck me most while watching the movie, TWELVE.

Directed by Joel Schumacher, this film talks about drug addiction, violence, sex and all vices there is in a life of a wealthy teenager plus their own family drama and teen angst. It stars Chace Crawford as White Mike who once was a wealthy teenager but now struggling to earn a living by being a drug dealer. Also stars 50 Cent, Emma Roberts, Philip Ettinger, Emily Meade and Kiefer Sutherland as the film's narrator (whom I didn't recognize his voice until I research about this film). All the actors did a great job in portraying their different characters bringing the 'lifestyles of the rich and the famous' to life. Why the title TWELVE? It is because of the name of the addictive drug cocktail, Twelve, in which the movie revolves around wherein White Mike's cousin tried to sell it around town and then gets killed, and one of rich young girl will do anything even giving up her virginity to have a another taste of it. Better not to spoil the movie plot here, go watch it yourself :D

Twelve was released August of last year and I just watched it only recently. I do have a lot of movie marathons to follow. What interest me in this movie is the way the characters were presented and how each of their lives are intertwined with each other. The storyline is quite interesting. Yes, it does have that typical gun shooting and killing since it involves drugs so its not good for types of audiences, children beware. Watch the climax at the end where it all boils down to a shooting spree. Who gets killed and who doesn't? That's for you to find out.

halloween movie pick: COMING SOON

Matapos ang The Ring at The Grudge, heto naman ang isang asian film na hindi nagpatulog sa akin dahil ilang beses din dumalaw sa panaginip si Shomba. Sa sobrang dalas kong mapanaginipan si Shomba, siya na yata ang dream girl ko, hekhekhek.


Coming Soon is a Thai horror film which stars Singer Worrakarn Punch Rotjanawatchra, Sakulrath Thomas, and Chantavit Dhanasevi, in the directorial debut for Sophon Sakdaphisit, co-writer of Thai films "Shutter" and "Alone" (credits to wikipedia for this and the movie poster, ang hirap kasi ng mga pangalan nila). Nagustuhan ko din ang Shutter dahil sa kakaibang twist sa kwento nito lalo na yung multo na nakasakay sa balikat mo. Parehong grupo din pala ang gumawa nito kaya naman iba kung manakot, iba talaga ang mga asian horror films pagdating sa takutan :D

Ang kwento ay umiikot sa isang horror movie din na binalak piratahin ni lead actor at irecord ito sa kanyang cam. Nagsimula ang kababalaghan at katatakutan habang pinapalabas ang pelikula at pawang ang mga eksena dito ay nangyayari din sa kanya. Magulo na yata ang synopsis ko, basta panoorin nyo to ng masindak at magulat kay Shomba. Pagtiyagaan lamang magbasa ng subtitles para maintindihan ang buong istorya, wala pa yatang naka-dub version nito.


Kung isa kang fan ng mga asian horror films, malamang nasa listahan mo na ang Coming Soon. Kung hindi mo pa napapanood ito, wag ng magpahuli at tiyaking may kasamang manood, hehehe..

Angels and Demons

I had this dilemma of reading the book first before watching its film adaptation or the movie first before the book. We all know Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code and when it hit the market a few years back, I first read the book before watching the movie and the film is quite good than the book.

So I was hoping for the same effect on its second installment which is actually its prequel, Angels and Demon. It took me a year to actually finished the book (that is why I am only making this post now) because I was preoccupied in juggling different matters and endure the temptation of not watching the movie when everyone else already saw it, only to be disappointed. The film did not give that much justice to the book, believe me.

There are lot of differences between the two. Certain characters were not present or they were change to a different one. Also, the storyline differs to somehow fit the entire book into a 2-hour or more film. Its much better to read the book first before watching the movie. But both, movie and book, gives the same fast-paced, heart-pounding mystery equipped with conspiracy theories and the 'science versus religion clash' that will keep you awed and interested until the very end. That's the Dan Brown bestseller.

salty dog

Drunk. Wasted. Crazy.
Yan ang naging lagay ko last week dahil sa aking birthday. Ikaw ba naman uminom ng iba't ibang alak at beers kung hindi ka malasing at macoma kinabukasan dahil sa hangover.


But what i like most is the grape vodka mix ng aking nanay na nilaklak ko ng nilaklak sa sarap. 'Salty dog' daw ang tawag nito sabi ng aking HRM na pinsan na hindi ko alam kung paano naging maalat na aso ang cocktail drink na 'to kaya nigoogle ko ito at ang sabi ni wikipedia ay; Salty Dog is a cocktail of vodka and grapefruit juice, served in a glass with a salted rim. Marahil dahil sa salted rim ng glass kung saan ito sineserve kaya naging 'salty' pero bakit naman naging 'dog'? Anyways, heto ang recipe para masubukan nyo.


What you need:

1 litro pack (35grams) grape flavored instant drink mix
350ml vodka
10 pcs. calamansi
1 glass water
ice


Mix all ingredients sa isang pitcher (of course, kailangan pigain ang kalamansi at tanggalin ang buto dahil yun juice lang ang kailangan). Tang litro pack na grape flavor ang ginamit nila at pwede ring Gin ang gamitin pamalit sa Vodka dahil nang maubos ang vodka ay naging Ginebra Gin na lang. You can also add any amounts of those ingredients to suite your taste. Serve with ice or chilled. Finished product will look like the picture pero mas purple nga lang, wala kasi akong pic nun dahil wasted na nga ako. Try it and enjoy!

GENSAN TRIP

I'm back. Its been a while since I my last post dahil sa mga kaganapan sa aking buhay at isa na dito ay magbakasyon. My mom is from Gensan and we often go there to visit my lola and relatives during summer. Since I recently resigned from my work (and I'm still unemployed as of this writing), I got a chance to take a vacation and here's the highlights...

First of all, kudos sa highways at roads sa GenSan dahil maluwag, malinis at concrete ito making it easy for travelers. Sarap din ang fresh air na sasalubong sa inyo.

 

LONDON BEACH

There are different beaches in Gensan that you can choose from. Tabi-tabi na nga sila kaya hindi ka na mahihirapan sa paghahanap. My cousins suggest that we go to London Beach na ayon sa kanila ay hindi crowded masyado dahil ito ang pinakadulong beach resort.

Not so fine sand pero pwede na. Medyo malumot din un beach at mag-ingat sa mga sea cucumber dahil  na biktima nila ang paa ko.

Boundary wall ng resort kung saan may malaking cottage na good for big families. Maulan ng kami ay pumunta dyan kaya medyo gloomy ang pic na to.

Cousins at kapatid ko na walang tigil kakapose. I really like this orange wall which makes a good background. 

KCC MALL OF GENSAN

After beach bumming, we went to the mall to watch Deathly Hallows (backlog post ko ito dahil July pa 'tong vacation na ito kaya first showing week ng Harry Potter). 90php lang ang 3D cinema sa KCC may kasama pa yun popcorn, sulit!

At ngayon ko lang ulet nakita ang 'old school' movie ticket na yan :)

PAHAYAHAY

Para sa mga naghahanap ng night life, there are a few bars where you can hang-out and local coffee shops around the city. The only problem is that magkakalayo ang mga 'to unlike sa Manila where everything is at one place. One more thing, its almost 11pm when we decide to go out but most of the bars na pinuntahan namin ay closed na. So we went to 'Pahayahay' and this word literary means 'to relax'. I haven't got much pictures of this bar but what I can say is that reggae inspired ito at acoustic ang tinutogtog ng band (dahil acoustic nights nun pumunta kami). What interest me is that their drinks are named after a movie.

'The Devil Wears Prada' na nakalimutan ko na kung ano ang mix at ang kanilang tequila sunrise na nakalimutan ko naman ang equivalent movie name at ang RH beer. Affordable din ang mga prices dito.

Yummy fries na may 3 different dips. Those two are the only pics I have, napasarap sa gimik e :)

That's all for now. I only spent 3 days lang kasi. Hope I'll be back to Gensan para malibot pa ang must see places.

If I'm not mistaken, this song was written for that movie which was released in year 2000. I wonder where is the All Saints band now?

Pagpacensyahan na po ang video dahil wala akong mahanap na matino sa youtube. Ang kanta para sa mga heartbroken na umaasa pa din at hindi makamove on na tulad ko, hehe.. Ilang buwan din nagasgas ang album na 'to sa aking ipod dati dahil sa paulit-ulit-ulit na pakikinig at page-emo. Best played during umuulan at ikaw ay nakadungaw sa bintana na nakatitig sa kawalan.

This song is part of her latest album "Goodbye Lullaby" which was released this year. Been an Avril fan since her 'Complicated' song came out in 2002. What I liked most about her is the punk rock style that she bring in to her music wherein listeners would easily recognize that its her own signature plus the necktie and tank-top combination of clothing. But new album now, as I may say, gives us a new side of her. It still has that Avril-rock-angst but more on a pop-hip-attitude, still I like her :)

Nahirapan akong pumili ng least fave song ko dahil halos lahat ay most fave ko yata. The All American Rejects is one of my fave alternative band at ang pinakagusto kong song nila ay It Ends Tonight kaya naman itong Time Stands Still na ang least fave ko. Been a fan of them since they release their self-titled debut album in 2003 which I do have a CD copy na ngayon ay nawawala na dahil hindi ibinalik sa'kin at nakalimutan ko na din kung sinong may sala, good thing na download na uso ngayon at hindi ko na kailangan pang bumili ng CD ulet. It was also thru MTV also that I became aware of this band where their first music video was shown (Swing, Swing).

my all-time favorite song: Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls


First heard it on the 'City of Angels' movie and it instantly became one of my favorites. I was still in high school when this song became famous and I never knew the Goo Goo Dolls back then, siguro I was not into rock/alternative genre dati kasi puro pop bands pa uso nung 90's. But after hearing this song, I was eager to look forward to their other songs and the MTV channel was the one that introduce them to me. I was then hooked to their catchy rock sound and cant get enough playing their song such over and over again. Other tracks that I like was Here is Gone, Slide, Big Machine and Name. Their "Greatest Hits Volume One" album is sure keeper to all those Goo Goo Dolls fans and to those who aren't, I'm sure that you will love this also.

karmin cover

buzz worthy: Karmin

another youtube sensation that is making waves in the music scene. first heard of karmin when a friend of mine posted their video of super bass, their own cover of the nicki minaj song. i was then hooked at how the female vocalist raps effortlessly. so i did a little youtubing and found out their other cover songs. their cover song for the chris brown's "look at me now" made a 21,244,580 views as of this writing and still counting. they also appeared on the ellen show because of this cover song.

Happy 113 Philippine Independence Day!

oo, nakikiisa din ako sa pagdidiwang ng independence day natin kahit tulog ako buong araw nito dahil may pasok pa ako sa gabi (graveyard shift ako e)..

puyat sa company outing...

kahapon ginanap ang summer outing ng company namin at mabuti namang hindi kami nabagyo unlike sa first batch na kasabay ni chedeng. it was held at montemar beach club sa bagac, bataan which is a 2 or 3 hour ride from our office in ortigas. i was able to take a few pictures of the venue (konti lang kasi ine-enjoy ko talaga yun outing na naging 'pahinga away from work') and here they are:

hindi ko na nahintay na lumubog ang araw dahil may activities pang nakahain ang company namin.

this 2-day summer outing was fun but unfortunately, diretso sa shift ako kaya bangag sa puyat at hangover ako ngayon. anyways, its all worth it :)

what happened in nagsasa cove zambales

matapos ang humigit-kumulang na 3-hour ride, im back at zambales after a year. ive'd been to anawangin and this time, overnight sa nagsasa cove naman at capones island the following day. sadly, hindi kami natuloy sa capones dahil hindi nakasama ang panahong may chedeng at naging maalon ang dagat. kaya naman ito lang ang nagyari sa nagsasa trip namin:

beach bumming - magpakasawa sa kakalangoy isabay na dyan ang sunbathing kung gusto mong magpaka-tostado at beach volley sa mga gustong magpagod

trekking - ang mahigit isang oras na pagkakalad sa iba't ibang tanawin ng nagsasa papunta sa isang falls na hindi ko man lang nalaman ang pangalan

rock climbing - isa sa mga highlight ng trekking. ganyan kataas lang naman ang aakyatin mo, beginners stage lang, sisiw! hehehe..

take a dip sa falls na hindi ko talaga alam ang pangalan nito, ingat lang dahil may kalaliman diyan

beach camping - walang hotels/resorts dun kaya kailangang ng tent na matutulugan (kay khanto pala galing 'tong pic)

and of course, my fave sunset! magchillax sa beach habang papalubog ang araw

yan lang ang nabaon kong pics dahil low bat na ang aking phone at wala palang kuryente sa nagsasa. marami pa namang pwedeng gawin sa nagsasa including ang matulog dahil maaga akong natulog sa aming tent right after ng diner (kain-tulog, sarap!) puyat nga kasi ako, hehehe..

5:00pm - gumising para sa pumasok
8:00pm - time in sa trabaho

sunday
5:00am - time out sabay uwi nga bahay para sa susunod na gala
6:30am - maagang nakarating sa bahay kaya nanood muna ng tv
8:00am - ligo,  bihis, etc. dahil 9am ang calltime para sa ek lakwatsa kasama ang college barkad

10:00am - late nakarating sa usapan dahil late nang nakaalis ng bahay

11:30am - breakfast muna sa jabee bago magpakahilo sa rides ng enchanted kingdom

12:00nn - ngpakahilo sa rides at sa init ng tangahaling tapat

8:30pm - matapos ang fireworks display sa ek, nagpasyang umuwi na

9:30pm - diner sa isang chinese resto bago magsipaguwi
10:30pm - stuck sa laguna terminal dahil hindi namin maiwan ang kabarkadang walang masakyan papuntang cavite
11:00pm - nasa van papuntang cubao at sumabay na lang samin un kabarkadang taga-cavite

monday
12:30am - nakarating sa bahay at namamadaling mag-ayos dahil 12am ang call time para sa zambales lakwatsa ng mga ka-officemates
1:30am - late nanaman nakarating sa usapan dahil nag-empake pa ako ng gamit dahil hind ako prepared

5:00am - nakarating sa pundaquit kung saan madilim pa at kailangang maghintay ang araw para sa boat ride to nagsasa cove

at nakatulog din sa buong byahe ngunit kulang pa kaya ang mga nangyari sa nagsasa zambales, next post na lang po :)
