buzz worthy: TWELVE

It is all about want. No one needs anything here. It is about when you wake up in the morning and the snow is already coming down and its bright between the buildings where the sun falls. But already dark where the shadows are. And its all about want. What do you want? Because if you don't want something you got nothing. You are a drift. You're washed away and then buried under the snows and shadows. And when in the spring the snow melts, no one will remember where you were frozen and buried. And you will no longer be anywhereThese were the lines that struck me most while watching the movie, TWELVE.

Directed by Joel Schumacher, this film talks about drug addiction, violence, sex and all vices there is in a life of a wealthy teenager plus their own family drama and teen angst. It stars Chace Crawford as White Mike who once was a wealthy teenager but now struggling to earn a living by being a drug dealer. Also stars 50 Cent, Emma Roberts, Philip Ettinger, Emily Meade and Kiefer Sutherland as the film's narrator (whom I didn't recognize his voice until I research about this film). All the actors did a great job in portraying their different characters bringing the 'lifestyles of the rich and the famous' to life. Why the title TWELVE? It is because of the name of the addictive drug cocktail, Twelve, in which the movie revolves around wherein White Mike's cousin tried to sell it around town and then gets killed, and one of rich young girl will do anything even giving up her virginity to have a another taste of it. Better not to spoil the movie plot here, go watch it yourself :D

Twelve was released August of last year and I just watched it only recently. I do have a lot of movie marathons to follow. What interest me in this movie is the way the characters were presented and how each of their lives are intertwined with each other. The storyline is quite interesting. Yes, it does have that typical gun shooting and killing since it involves drugs so its not good for types of audiences, children beware. Watch the climax at the end where it all boils down to a shooting spree. Who gets killed and who doesn't? That's for you to find out.

halloween movie pick: COMING SOON

Coming Soon is a Thai horror film which stars Singer Worrakarn Punch Rotjanawatchra, Sakulrath Thomas, and Chantavit Dhanasevi, in the directorial debut for Sophon Sakdaphisit, co-writer of Thai films "Shutter" and "Alone" (credits to wikipedia for this and the movie poster, ang hirap kasi ng mga pangalan nila).

Angels and Demons

I had this dilemma of reading the book first before watching its film adaptation or the movie first before the book. We all know Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code and when it hit the market a few years back, I first read the book before watching the movie and the film is quite good than the book.

So I was hoping for the same effect on its second installment which is actually its prequel, Angels and Demon. It took me a year to actually finished the book (that is why I am only making this post now) because I was preoccupied in juggling different matters and endure the temptation of not watching the movie when everyone else already saw it, only to be disappointed. The film did not give that much justice to the book, believe me.

There are lot of differences between the two. Certain characters were not present or they were change to a different one. Also, the storyline differs to somehow fit the entire book into a 2-hour or more film. Its much better to read the book first before watching the movie. But both, movie and book, gives the same fast-paced, heart-pounding mystery equipped with conspiracy theories and the 'science versus religion clash' that will keep you awed and interested until the very end. That's the Dan Brown bestseller.

running through my head

funny how a certain place
reminds you of a certain someone;
that certain look,
that certain smile,
that certain moment..

then the memories came rushing back,
memories that once was sweet,
memories that was always treasured..

those times when only you matter,
those times when everything is bright and shiny
in a world that you and I only exist..

missing,
longing,
then..
snap!

back to reality,
back to the fact that all is gone,
gone and always will be.

salty dog

Drunk. Wasted. Crazy.

But what i like most is the grape vodka mix ng aking nanay na nilaklak ko ng nilaklak sa sarap.

What you need:
photo taken from google images
1 litro pack (35grams) grape flavored instant drink mix
350ml vodka
10 pcs. calamansi
1 glass water
ice

You can also add any amounts of those ingredients to suite your taste. Serve with ice or chilled. Finished product will look like the picture pero mas purple nga lang, wala kasi akong pic nun dahil wasted na nga ako. Try it and enjoy!

GENSAN TRIP

I'm back. Its been a while since I my last post dahil sa mga kaganapan sa aking buhay at isa na dito ay magbakasyon. My mom is from Gensan and we often go there to visit my lola and relatives during summer. Since I recently resigned from my work (and I'm still unemployed as of this writing), I got a chance to take a vacation and here's the highlights...
First of all, kudos sa highways at roads sa GenSan dahil maluwag, malinis at concrete ito making it easy for travelers.

LONDON BEACH
There are different beaches in Gensan that you can choose from.
Not so fine sand pero pwede na.
I really like this orange wall which makes a good background.

KCC MALL OF GENSAN

PAHAYAHAY

Para sa mga naghahanap ng night life, there are a few bars where you can hang-out and local coffee shops around the city. The only problem is that magkakalayo ang mga 'to unlike sa Manila where everything is at one place. One more thing, its almost 11pm when we decide to go out but most of the bars na pinuntahan namin ay closed na. So we went to 'Pahayahay' and this word literary means 'to relax'. I haven't got much pictures of this bar but what I can say is that reggae inspired ito at acoustic ang tinutogtog ng band (dahil acoustic nights nun pumunta kami). What interest me is that their drinks are named after a movie.
Those two are the only pics I have, napasarap sa gimik e :)

That's all for now. I only spent 3 days lang kasi. Hope I'll be back to Gensan para malibot pa ang must see places.

haitus

- may refer to Recess (break)
- Hiatus, a small difference in pitch between two musical tones (see Interval (music)
- Hiatus (linguistics), a phonological term referring to the lack of a consonant separating two vowels in separate syllables, as in co-operation
- Hiatus (television), a break of several weeks or more in television scheduling
- Hiatus, a discontinuity in the age of strata in stratigraphy
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiatus

 - magre-resign na sa current work at magiging official tambay after this week. nagresign ng walang malilipatan trabaho, wrong move ba ako?

Day 07: A song that reminds you of a certain event

30 Day Song Challenge
song that reminds me of a certain event: Miss Independent by Ne-Yo

This song reminds me of our company christmas party back in 2008. Its my first time to attend and that marks my one year employment. Can't think of anything to add but that has been a great party. I'ved been with Trend for 3 years and a half but sadly, I am resigning and will surely miss my coworkers and friends who's been with me in those great years :(

Day 06: A song that reminds you of somewhere

30 Day Song Challenge
song that reminds me of somewhere: Pure Shores by All Saints

This song reminds me of all the refreshing beaches here in the Phils. that I already visited. Sarap magbabad sa beach with this song at the background, a feel-good song for a refreshing and relaxing vacation.. If I'm not mistaken, this song was written for that movie which was released in year 2000. I wonder where is the All Saints band now?

Day 05: A song that reminds you of someone

30 Day Song Challenge
song that reminds me of someone: Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler

Ang kanta ni ex sa akin. Still remember the kulitan at mga asukal habang nakikinig sa kantang ito ngunit wala ng saysay at hanggang reminisce na lang dahil naglahong parang bula si ex. Even though we ended up badly, still holds no grudge to this song, salamat sa (500) Days of Summer.

Day 04: A song that makes you sad

30 Day Song Challenge
song that makes me sad: Sandali Lang by Silent Sanctuary

pic taken from google images

This song is part of their second album, Fuchsiang Pag-ibig, which was released in 2007. It includes the hits Rebound, Ikaw Lamang, Kundiman and Summer Song. You may visit their official website here for updates on Silent Santuary band.

Day 03: A song that makes you happy

30 Day Song Challenge
song that makes me happy: Push by Avril Lavigne

This song is part of her latest album "Goodbye Lullaby" which was released this year. Been an Avril fan since her 'Complicated' song came out in 2002. What I liked most about her is the punk rock style that she bring in to her music wherein listeners would easily recognize that its her own signature plus the necktie and tank-top combination of clothing. But new album now, as I may say, gives us a new side of her. It still has that Avril-rock-angst but more on a pop-hip-attitude, still I like her :)

Here's the track listing of her "Goodbye Lullaby" album:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goodbye_Lullaby
1. Black Star
2. What the Hell
3. Push
4. Wish You Were Here
5. Smile
6. Stop Standing There
7. I Love You
8. Everybody Hurts
9. Not Enough
10. 4 Real
11. Darlin
12. Remember When
13. Goodbye
14. Alice (extended version)

It was also thru MTV also that I became aware of this band where their first music video was shown (Swing, Swing).

Day 01: Your favourite song

30 Day Song Challenge
my all-time favorite song: Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls

First heard it on the 'City of Angels' movie and it instantly became one of my favorites. I was still in high school when this song became famous and I never knew the Goo Goo Dolls back then, siguro I was not into rock/alternative genre dati kasi puro pop bands pa uso nung 90's. But after hearing this song, I was eager to look forward to their other songs and the MTV channel was the one that introduce them to me. I was then hooked to their catchy rock sound and cant get enough playing their song such over and over again. Other tracks that I like was Here is Gone, Slide, Big Machine and Name. Their "Greatest Hits Volume One" album is sure keeper to all those Goo Goo Dolls fans and to those who aren't, I'm sure that you will love this also.

Here's the track listing:

karmin cover

buzz worthy: Karmin

another youtube sensation that is making waves in the music scene. first heard of karmin when a friend of mine posted their video of super bass, their own cover of the nicki minaj song. i was then hooked at how the female vocalist raps effortlessly. so i did a little youtubing and found out their other cover songs. their cover song for the chris brown's "look at me now" made a 21,244,580 views as of this writing and still counting. they also appeared on the ellen show because of this cover song.

can't get enough of them, just search @KarminMusic on youtube. enjoy!

montemar beach resort

puyat sa company outing...

kahapon ginanap ang summer outing ng company namin at mabuti namang hindi kami nabagyo unlike sa first batch na kasabay ni chedeng. it was held at montemar beach club sa bagac, bataan which is a 2 or 3 hour ride from our office in ortigas. i was able to take a few pictures of the venue (konti lang kasi ine-enjoy ko talaga yun outing na naging 'pahinga away from work') and here they are:
the beach
looks easy enough to cross? try mo. hehehe..
a view from the top of the tree house, malawak un resort na to
another view from the tree house, yun green pool yan
they do have other amenities aside from the videoke that you can try pagbored ka nang lumublob sa dagat. just check their website here.
this 2-day summer outing was fun but unfortunately, diretso sa shift ako kaya bangag sa puyat at hangover ako ngayon. anyways, its all worth it :)

what happened in nagsasa cove zambales

and of course, my fave sunset! magchillax sa beach habang papalubog ang araw
yan lang ang nabaon kong pics dahil low bat na ang aking phone at wala palang kuryente sa nagsasa. marami pa namang pwedeng gawin sa nagsasa including ang matulog dahil maaga akong natulog sa aming tent right after ng diner (kain-tulog, sarap!) puyat nga kasi ako, hehehe..

salamat nga pala sa Lakwatsero Tour Club for this trip :D

what's your summer soundtrack?

its still summer season i hope it will not end so soon dahil nagsimula nang dumating ang mga bagyo sa pinas. so bago pa man magtuloy-tuloy ang pagging wet, este wet season, here's my summer soundtrack, ang mga albums sa aking ipod, old and new ones, that keeps me company during summer trips and vacation at kahit chillax lang sa bahay.

Doo-Wops & Hooligan | Bruno Mars
- consists of 10 tracks na talaga namang mae-enjoy mo lahat dahil sa feel-good music na hatid nito. walang tapon sa album na ito, trust me, you'll love all the songs here.
fave tracks: lahat!
best played when: on a road trip para relax while driving to your summer destination

The All-American Rejects | The All-American Rejects
- first heard it when i was in college or high school pa yata, memory gap. has 11 tracks na parang pop-alternative-rock style. if your into alternative music, then this one's for you.
fave tracks: my paper heart, time stands still, your star, the last song, lahat na
best played when: on a road trip pagmedyo inaantok na para magising sa catchy beat nito

The Beginning |The Black Eyed Peas
- the sixth studio album ng black eyed peas and i'ved been their fan since 'where is the love' hits the airwaves. knowing that a filipino is one of their member makes us all proud, right!
fave tracks: love you long time, whenever, just can't get enough, the time (dirty bit)
best played when: sa inuman session or your own partey dahil walang night life sa napuntahan ninyo

Goodbye Lullaby | Avril Lavigne
- avril is back and with a new album. i must say that this is different from her other old albums which is mainly heartbreak and teen angst. ibang iba ito sa dating avril with her punk-rock-emo style which i liked her for. its more of a continuation of her 'the best damn thing' album
fave tracks: push, wish you were here, 4 real, what the hell
best played when: during the after-party hours or night cap dahil mostly lie-low song ang mga ito

Science & Faith | The Script
- second studio album ng the script na nagustuhan sa mga kantang breakeven at the man who can't be moved. sayang nga lang at namiss ko ang kanilang concert sa araneta. do try to listen to their first self-titled album, the script, which also has great tracks
fave tracks: if you ever come back, dead man walking, if you ever come back
best played when: sunbathing sa dalampasigan or habang nagrerelax sa duyan with the sea breeze na nagpapatulog sayo

Raymond v. Raymond | Usher
- been a fan of usher dahil sa kanyang rnb style. galing ng performance nya ng 'omg' sa mtv music awards. aside from 'omg' mostly slow-dance type ang mga tracks nito.
fave tracks: guilty, hey daddy (daddy's home), more, papers, omg
best played when: after party hours to wrap the night up and start up whatever comes after it

The Best Yet | Switchfoot
- a compilation album of all switchfoot's greatest hits. been a fan of switchfoot since dare you to move and this album is a must for all those who want to know the other songs that they became famous for.
fave tracks: dare you to move, meant to live, stars
best played when: you're pissed off sa mga kasama mo at gusto mong mapag-isa sa beach

Don't You Fake It | The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
- one loud album na suited for head-banging rock concert scene. isa sa mga albums na masarap pakinggan on a full volume headset na tipong walang ibang tao sa paligid dahil nakamute sila sa sobrang lakas ng music.
fave tracks: your guardian angel, face down, cat and mouse, damn regret, atrophy

Free Wired | Far East Movement
- another partey-partey album that will make you move and dance. isa din ito sa pampagising playlist ko dahil tila asa dancefloor ka pag ito ang pinapakinggan mo.
fave tracks: don't look now, girls on the dance floor, like a g6, rocketeer
best played when: inaantok sa office dahil wala pang tulog galing sa outing
